well im going to court with paypal buyer credit. we have a court date for april 23rd. they have kept sending me bills saying i owe them hundreds of dollars for purchases. in actuality i have it set up to where all my purchases draw directly from my checking account. They're saying i used paypal credit to make the purchases. but i also have my bank statements showing each and every purchase made, the amount taken from my checking account, and the date withdrawn. theyre trying to make me pay twice. this has happened to a few other people i know lately as well. paypal is a scam in my opinion.

I have done 1000's transactions with paypal. I ahve been a member for over 5 years and would not do business over the net any other way.

I buy all my business parts etc with paypal and even use it for gas.

I am betting it is a paperwork snaffu. Of course paypal is now owned by ebay

Course; don't leave out all the scam artist running around too. There are a lot of people that scam to get hold of your account number. I've never had any problems with PayPal, and I have my account set up just like yours olivedrabcj7. Does sound like a mistake on their part though, and sounds like you got all the proof you need. Good luck, hope you get it resolved man!

I got beat out of 260.00 with Paypal. Sold an item on Ebay, buyer paid Paypal, I saw I had the money in my account from Paypal so I shipping the item, after I shipped it Paypal pulled the money back out of my account because the buyer didn't have the funds at that time. Paypal would not pay me because he wasn't a "confirmed user" whatever that means. Why is he allowed to use Paypal at all if he's not a "confirmed user". Why did they put the money in my account in the first place if he didn't have it, do I have to screen everyone I take Paypal from. I look at it like I got a bad check from Paypal so to speak. And of course I got a bunch of promises from the deadbeat but no dollars.

Isn't paypal supposed to prevent that situation altogether? I can see problems caused by funds being pulled due to the buyer claiming that he never received the goods, but the lack of funds thing sounds like total BS!

yeah something similar happened to a buddy of mine. they paid him, he shipped out the goods, they claimed they never got the package. so paypal took the money out of his account and then he called ups and they said they got a signature from the recipient of the package. so go figure.

Well that's different then what was described above though. Paypal pulled money do to insufficient funds.

yeah but paypal likes to credit funds, then pull them later on. it should be final....even if it takes a little longer to clear. once the money is transferred, it should be a done deal. with them pulling funds all the time for stuff like that, the seller doesnt know if the buyer has the money in their account or not....or if the buyer is gonna try and pull a fast one by saying they never recieved the package. im just sick of paypal's screw ups.

Couple of months ago I checked my email before bed and was surprised to see a purchase confirmation from vBulletin, thanking me for my $250 purchase. Below it was a funds transfer confirmation from PayPal verifying my $250 purchase.

Thing is, I never made any vBulletin purchase...let alone with PayPal. I immediately changed all passwords to all accounts everywhere that I had, as a precaution. First thing in the morning my checking account was closed and PayPal was called. They were really cool with everything and said they would launch an investigation. vBulletin was even better and responded immediately by cancelling the subscription account that was purchased and refunded the amount to my PayPal account.

Got an email last week from PayPal saying that they've determined there was no fraudulent access to my account...and to 'please come back.'

Pretty cute in that there was no fraud, but they never officially acknowledged that they fawked up.

I've used paypal 100's of times. Never had one problem. Had one guy keep sending me payment requests, paypal sent me the 'what's up' e-mail. Told them I never ordered anything from this nutcase, and no more payment requests came through.

I got robbed by a guy named RAY GRECCO running a scam company called BackCountry Colorado. I sent him two payments through PayPal - the purchase price for a tank skid and then the shipping cost a few days later when he said it was ready to ship. He accepted the payments but never shipped the skid. I listened to his excuses and promises for a few days, but when I contacted PayPal about the matter they did absolutely nothing. Wouldn't even contact the thief to ask nicely if he'd mind thieving elsewhere. Felt to me like they were acting as his accomplice.

So did you file a formal complaint? what was the transaction number? how did you tell em?

I have averaged more than $80,000 a year as a seller through PayPal for the three or so years. Maybe I've been lucky, but never had a single problem. I have a debit card I use to access my funds. My only complaint is that cash withdrawls are limited to $400 on the card and purchase of $2500 or more have to be approved.
