carrier change?

just wondering when changing from 3.55's-4.10's,in dana 30&chry8.25 will i have to change the carriers?also should i keep the 8.25 or find a 35,it's a 95 so it's a 27 spline

IMO, I had a 8.25 in a half ton Dodge pick-up, making a bunch of horses. I occasionally over did it and compressed the collapsible sleeve, which was really no big deal to fix. I concidered it to be a pretty good rear end all around. I had other drive train parts break on a much more frequent basis.

Try searching in the Modified Tech section (which is what this topic is), there are some great write up's on regearing and axle choices in there. Look for a thread by CRASH for a great overview of the options for rear axles. He's got a great one on gear choices as well.

For what axle?

There is NO carrier break for the Chrysler 8.25 axle.
