oil leak

I have a 96 XJ that is leaking oil from somewhere in the back of the engine. Any common areas that XJ's are prone to leak from? I am not too car savvy so please describe what I should look for to check please. Thanks.

valve cover gaskets leak in the back, rear main seal is something else that can go.

probably the rear seal...but don't forget the oil filter housing o-rings.

Check and tighten the valve cover bolts but be careful they break pretty easy.

Clean the engine top and bottom and trace where it's coming from.
