I need to remove the center console in a 88 XJ (auto tranny). How do I remove the shift knob so I can get the square shift selector window thingy off?

pull up on it....it will come off

I hit it up from the underside a bit harder than needed and ended up hitting myself pretty good. My facial hair acted as padding though, so no damage. :laugh3:

Thanx gang for the replies. Nothing like smashing your chin with the shift knob
