View Full Version : What I learned at Winterfest...

-All the fancy electronic forms in the world won't make up for being late... but at least I'm consistent.

-Treating an XJ gently does not necessarily make it more reliable.

-While getting one's hand stuck between the drag-link & the skid plate may seem funny, dragging one's spouse around the Badlands is definitely grounds for divorce.

-A new definition of irony: Lawn Cher' tripping over a lawn chair.

-BGCountry started drinking in '83 and hasn't stopped. Ever. And he carries an extra liver among his spare parts.

-The Attica Inn is much nicer than the website makes it seem.

-Robie's makes a mean Bloody Mary, but their roast beef leaves something to be desired.

-Baked goods are a MWC tradition, be it pie, cheesecake or a tray of muffins.

-Hey Mo! Nyuk Nyuk Nyuk.

You ain't kidding! Its not often I get to be the designated drinker. My wife loves her martinis.

I learned...

Jack can't handle his muffins.

The best drinks are from a unknown bottle passed around the fire.

Cavers buy smooth tequilla.

I am old and out of shape.

Bronco guys love to work on engines at 11:30 PM.

The ARB compressor is not indestructable.

I can charge thru a creek and a pond without a problem, but a dribble of soap water will disable my Jeep.

Okie is a lucky man.

Last but not least, the the Winterfest group was some of the nicest folks I have ever known

It's easier to push a truck 6" than it is to connect two sets of jumper cables.

It's easier than you think to sleep completely comfortably without removing any clothing.

Sean snores at cartoonish levels.

Sue doesn't punch Rev NEAR enough for his rogue comments.

Laura makes good 16 course chilli.

T-girl loves Boomer Sooner at 7am, 8am, and 9am.

Scott loses track of his thoughts more than he realizes.

Opie and his little friend shouldn't sit so closely to eachother at the camp fire. (not that there's anything wrong with that)

Dogs love the previous evening's human appetizers.

I learned that "Big Country Honey Pale" is really pretty tastey homebrew and not what Scott advertises it as ...

An "adequate spare" is not very adequate ...

That hay from my brothers hidden field makes people funny when burned ...

Female Okie's have a little dance they do to the Bommer Sooner Fight song ...

Laura really can make a sound like a Dolphin ... and no Sean, I did not flip 'er ...

I'm really 107 years old ...

1) Even after all this time my Jeep can still tow a camper 6 hours, wheel, and tow the camper home.

2) I've found a new way to get rid of my pile of junk tires at home, sign them and raffle them off at the next NAXJA event.

3) All the tire needs to do to be acceptable for a raffle item is hold air.

4) If you win the tire and then whine enough Rev will let you have a t-shirt he won.

5) Hay burns really hot.

6) Last year a tradition started of passing the bottle.

7) A hang over is much better to deal with if you don't have one.

8) What happens at Winterfest stays at Winterfest is code for, When you return to Winterfest your gonna hear about it again and again.

9) Apparently I can make Scott's wife "almost" blush. Don't know if that's a good thing because I can't remember how I did it.

10) The older my Jeep gets, the easier it is to break.

11) As old as it is going to Attica again and again, sitting around the fire and BS'in is what it's really all about.

12) Scott seems to have less of problem if you touch his wife than his stereo.

13) Daisy aint nothin but a hound dog.

Had a good time as always.

Let me add ...

Bob Loose is a sucker for "two girls stuck in the mud" ...

and ...

BC really likes "Pickin' and a Grinnin'" ...

If the wyfe has a problem, she will let you know it.
The stereo lacks free will, and must be protected at all costs.
Daisy is at peace with her lot in life.
If you took 6 hours to get home, you should examine your shift linkage.
I made it in 3.5 hours or so.
Great weekend, in case I failed to mention it.
Fawking socializing got in the way of my wheeling a couple of times.
Still, I wouldn't change a thing.

1. Rev will do everything he can to help, thanks again!
2. Overbuilt rock rails are a life saver.
3. Sand will make you do funny things while descending it.
4. An okie fight song will definitely wake you up.
5. Just because your Jeep runs when you leave doesn't mean it will make it all the way home.
6. Midwest campfires are a thing of legend.
7. My fiance will be cold no matter how many sleeping bags and blankets are on her.
8. All wheeling/camping/drinking experiences should be modeled after a mwc example.
9. Fat Tire is every bit as good as advertised, thanks Lawn Cher.

Thanks for a great experience. When can we do it again?

tequilla isnt all that bad - especialy the bottle form the cave man(fang)

e-brake slides are hard on drum brakes

dont sleep in a tent in the begining of march in the midwest

Okie Terry, BGcntry, and kid4life arent that bad of guys

Amp - the energy drink is XXXXing awesome for driving home

even with the most built rig - you can still get shit for not knowing how to drive

in responce to this:

Opie and his little friend shouldn't sit so closely to eachother at the camp fire. (not that there's anything wrong with that)

XXXX - i cant think of anything and searching thru terry's old posts didnt give me anything good

Nah, what fun is a road trip without good company? We're just busting balls here, you should know that by now. You should have Billy post here so we can razz him in person.

My Jeep seems to like going home better than leaving home. I took the long way there and clocked in about 6 hours, but home 4.5~5hrs. Remeber though I also live at least an hour north of you.

I learned a lot too, so I'm going to list what I didn't learn...

- How so many people with vehicles can disappear, so quickly on a moments notice?
- What is it about tequila, flaming pallets and an ax that drives me crazy?
- I still don't know who/what/where is BLAXJA?
- What are those new noises I hear in the back of my XJ.
- Does no one "really" mess with you if you pass out drunk in a chair?

Guess I have to get these asnwered at the next event.
