Tim, you need a c-clip eliminator for your Dana 35!! My Brother-in-Law couldn't beleave the damage to your axle. Fred

Fred, right you are, though my c-clip eliminator is coming in the form of either a D44 or an 8.8. I certainly won't be taking the XJ out much without a new rear. I like your 9", but I just can't see myself havin the scratch for one of them until well after my upcoming wedding.

d44 is a nice c-clip eliminator...8.8...not such a good choice Tim, but I'm sure you knew that. There are tons of places to get the eliminator kit for that rear.

and what's wrong with an 8.8...the axle size is significantly bigger, so breaking an axle is ALOT harder than in a D35, not to mention you can put c-clip eliminators on an 8.8, plus i think the 8.8 are more available then the D44....

Just has C-Clips, thats all. Plenty of axle, plenty of splines, but if one of them C-clips finds its way out, (which is unlikely, since the clearances are pretty tight in those axles) then out she comes. I have seen the result of a C-Clip getting out. It tore things up pretty good inside the carrier. To the point that they had to replace the carrier and spider gears, as well as the C-Clip of course. It was a 10 bolt Chevy axle though. C-clip eliminaters are cheap insurance.
