sorry this is such a newb question but how do i tell what axles i have?, i have a 1999 4wd 4dr sport

can anyone help me out, sorry for such a dumb question

Notice the flat bottom with the little tabs.

Is yours does not have the flat bottom and it is rounded then you most likely have a d35.

You can also have a d44 but those only came in xj's from 87-89.
Which 8.25 it is also depends on what year your xj is

you will have the 29-spline 8.25 unless you have an ABS rig.. then you will have the Dana 35 (but i have heard info contrary to that recently too)

the front is a Dana 30 hi-pinion..

Well apparently I didn't read the whole post to see that you have a '99. So yeh scratch what I said about the d44 and listen to sidriptide

i dont have abs, so i assume i have the 8.25 im going to make sure by checking it with the pic of the 8.25 above
