fuel gauge problem

Well I was driving home after school yesterday... and one second Im looking at my fuel gauge and its on a 1/4 tank... then I look down and it says empty, so I filled it up and the gauge wont leave empty and the low fuel light stays on.... ne suggestions to fix the gauge? thnx

My guess is the sender in the tank - possibly the float's broken off, or the electrical signal to the gauge is being cut off somewhere. Could be a little bit of a pig to hunt down, but it's one way to know how far your jeep will go on a tank! :wierd: Hit that trip reset!!
