Alright, I wanted to start a new thread for this, thanks to pablo for getting this rollin'. Here is what I have come up with, I will have to give credit to Ben Saunders of CO 4x4, as his artist has the original version of this, but I have modifed it much to go with what I was looking for. (Use to be an EB)
I went with the Rocky Mountain Chapter, as I think it is more inclusive for our members. I also see no reason why we couldn't vote to have it changed on the board if we have enough interest to do so. Daryl, go ahead and post yours up again..................:pig:

The naming of the chapter was discused in depth at the onset. Rocky Moutian chapter includes too many that are in other chapters. It will not be changing,so lets work with what we got.

DJ, I REALLY like your design! I think that would look killer on our fenders! I'm not too hip on the license plate thing (no offense Daryl) I already got two on my rig as it is. I know most club stickers seem to be round, but I'm diggin' on the jagged peak thing that DJ did in the first image. I'd like to see the "Colorado Chapter" letter be bigger so that it's easier to identify the chapter.
Keep it up!

The second drawing is my preference. Would the stitching on the patches be less complicated with a little cleaner lines on the Cherokee? The design would be more dramatic when simplified and still recognizable as a Cherokee (similar to the way the mountain is a simple and strong design). I like the way the mountain anchors the design and visually brings Colorado to mind.

i agree fred...
stylistically it doesn't really match: XJ looks like a 'solarize' filter was applied to a photoshop image;
wheels/tires are cartoonish, and the mtns are 2 dimensional freehand (and why are they upside down?
if it is supposed to be a reflection, it should match top to bottom).
i think the concept is decent, but it needs a single consistent style, IMHO.
thanks for taking the time DJ to create and modify.

The mountains are upside down because it is the only kind of space filler that doesn't look out of place. I cannot do anything about the tires, they are how they are, I can also not "freehand" a cartoon XJ on the computer. It's easy to be picky when your not the one doing the work. I modifed this logo about 9 different times, which I could prove by all the files now on my comp.

If any of you other Colorado guys have an image of an XJ with a similar profile as the one DJ has used that you feel would look better, by all means, send it to him back channel and see what he can do with it. Otherwise, chill out if you can't compete!

2 sides of a coin here:
i like DJ's logo a bunch, plus personally having a graphic design background, i can appreciate the time he probably spent on it. looks really great DJ!! how the heck did you find the time between school, sleep and the night shift?
flip side: i'm REALLY into simplicity. i think terry's logo looks really nice too.. plus it's *kinda* got that old school 2 letter abbreviation kickback to it.
sooo... given it's such a tough decision to make, i'd like to opt for an alternate option...

I like Terry's design as well. The thing to look into maybe is production costs. (if we're worried about that.) To keep the detail that is in DJ's I don't know if it could be done in cut vinyl, most likely have to be printed as a sticker. (something that I know nothing about) Terry's could be done either way. maybe costing less for vinyl? (but as I said before, I know nothing about production costs of stickers)
It's lunch time for me, so I thought that I'd throw out some food for thought.

thanks for the comments... fwiw, i wasn't really throwing my design back into the ring (just something i threw together last year when the chapter formed).
having said that, my design (as has been noted) is pretty basic and i'm guessing could be made into a sticker in low quantities for fairly cheap (black on white).
one option is that DJ's design could be the "official" chapter sticker (since the officers seem to prefer it) and made out of vinyl for those that want it;
i could do just a short run of stickers for anybody that would like to run it (or both). i had considered doing at least a one-off for me anyway. :D
P.S.
anybody heard from 'old man' lately? tom just because you're no longer chapter prez doesn't mean you have to keep a low profile! see you on the 19th??

I think Terry hit the nail on the head himself. I like his design as well, but it looks very similar to every other one of those stickers you get at the souvenir shops. I'd like to see something that stands out from anything else.
Andrew's is kinda cool too, but I still like the 3 dimensional look of DJ's.
With DJ's, I also like the fact that the XJ isn't specifically colored. I imagine that not everyone would care for a red grille with a stinger bumper represented on the club sticker.
I'm still leaning toward DJ's.
Another thing we could discuss at the meeting is if we'd like to have the option of 2 stickers to choose from. I could easily see that the semi-hardcore to hardcore guys liking DJ's sticker on their fenders, but some of our easier trail minded guys liking Terry's sticker and putting it on their windows or bumpers. Ideally, one sticker should probably represent our Chapter, but I think it's worth discussing.
Great submissions so far though!

I'm diggin the Northwest chapter's Logo.... Plus it seems like it would come out a lot cleaner/simpler considering it only has 3 solid colors.... I'll try to work on my take of it on Thursday....

I believe it will be discussed this weekend at the chapter meeting.

The "official" logo is something that will have to be decided upon with a vote from the Chapter members. Our intention is to have everyone bring in their designs to the meeting on the 19th so that we all can decide. There's the possibility that the majority may decide that more time needs to be spent on the design. Whatever happens, this will be a topic of discussion for the 19th meeting. Sorry, you won't have one in time for EJS.
Now, as far as the Northwest chapter's logo, it is a great looking design. But, there's no way we're gonna copy theirs and swap the Colorado Chapter into it. Each Chapter should be represented by an individual and unique logo.
Anyone with the skills to design a logo for us please do! Bring it to the meeting, or get a copy of it to either me, Led or Joey or anyone else attending the meeting so that we can put it up for consideration.
Thanks for the hard work and interest guys!

I completely agree... I was just commenting that I liked the simplicity of the NW's logo.... More on that tomorrow....

lookin' good DJ! thanks for following through...
i guess i still don't understand the upside mountain range though.
what if you simply flipped the moutains so that the XJ looked like it was in the foreground,
but you get the dramatic effect of the tall peaks in the background??
otherwise i think (my opinion) it looks like the XJ is just on a small hill.

The problem is, if I take out the mountains, the picture is not visually balanced. Something needs to be on the bottom there, and that is the best thing I could come up with that would not clutter the pic............... :pig:

Just giving feedback here:
I think the wheels need to be changed. The front axle and wheels look very "tinker toy'ish" I would rather see a less extreme XJ in the same spot. I also think the sticker needs to have a full black outline. The design factor of the 1/2 moon things are nice but not practical for a round sticker.

This one will not be even considered for printing. It does not look good on a round sticker, and to print as is would be major $$$$$. I just made it to shut Terry up, cause now he is knit picking................. :laugh3:
