My handheld is a Cobra, and cost me $60 with an external antenna, 12v adapter, and case.
Get your broke ass to a Target and take care of business.
I also have 2 FRS radios, should worst come to worst.
You won't hear CB conversation, but someone with the other FRS will fill you in.
HTH.

I guess you should have bought a CB instead of access to the members area?

Too broke for a CB, too broke to wheel! Nuff said ................ how much is it going to cost when you fly over a blind hill and smash into someones tailgate because you cant hear the radio traffic telling everyone to "HOLD UP"?
IMO if you cant get/wire up a CB you should do us all a favor and stay home.

PS: there are radios at target/walmart /radio shack for less than $40
