mechanical water temp gauge

i am trying to put on a temp gauge and have run into a snag you see jeep has this little factory sending unit and my sunpro has a big shaft that needs to go into the warter jacket does anyone know of another spot i can put this i really dont want a electrical gauge since they act funny when water is applied any help would be well helpful thanks

Once I saw a kit where you could mount the sender into the upper radiator hose.....sounds funny but it worked...

well i found the sensor hiding behind the motor mount which i had to remove to install but thanks for the help i now have gauges with numbers instead of idiot lighs yeah oh and is there a way to remove this post or does it stay here forever
