Last Fall my weed eater gave up on me on my final mow, and now I'm on the hunt for a new one. I've looked at Stihl, and Toro, but not sure of what brand to get, or what all is out there.

I mow on average of 15 yards per week in the summer but I may be picking up a few more this year. I want to stay under $175, and only need a trimmer, not a brush cutter.

Does anyone have a trimmer that they favor, or think that would work well for my application?

Thanks!

Feather-lite, as long as its just trimming. I had on of those brush cutting/trimmers with the handlebars and shoulder strap and it was way overkill. Sold it and bought this one and I love it. Nice and light and will cut some prety big stuff with the right line.

Go Echo (http://www.echo-usa.com/) or go home ...

I've had mine for over ten years.

Husqvarna.

I paid about 160 for it, great trimmer, light weight, lots of balls. I baptized it by cutting 1.5' overgrown grass and weeds. It couldn't bog it down.

My dad bought an echo when he bought the property (13 acres) 25 years ago. He finally had to replace it last year. He bought another one. The are much lighter now!
