i'm new to coil suspensions (owned a YJ, just got an XJ)
i got these coil spacers to lift the front a bit. the previous owner told me he installed additional spacers already. i want to replace them with the one i got. QUESTION: do i need to keep the stock rubber coil seat, or can i just have the spacer between the body and the spring?

You don't have to put the isolator back on but most people do as it helps absorb some of the vibrations and impacts so you don't feel them as much in the cab.

Dennis - It looks like in the pics there are 2 stock isolators in there. I would remove one isolator and add the spacer. I have my spacer sandwiched between the isolator and coil but I was once told this is wrong. I guess some people go coil - isolator - spacer. Either way will work fine IMO.

Eric, do you have coil spring compressors? if so, can i borrow?

I've always gone to Autozone. They have a "loaner" policy where you pay for the compressors and when you are done with them you return them and get your money back. So the cost is 0. FYI, Autozone calles them "strut" compressors.

ya go with the one spacer you have, coil-isolator-spacer. Plan on getting an alignment if the spacer is higher than what is there. I will put everything off just enough to give you a little deathwobble at some hw speeds.

no glue they will hold up on their own mine wouldnt, i just taped them while i placed the spring in. it is easier if u get someone 2 help

You are for sure going to need those spring compressors...unscrew the bump stops and leave them inside the springs while you take the springs in and out...gives you a little more room to pull the springs out...disconnecting the pitman arm and the LCA's will allow more drop...but it might not be REQUIRED...I have seen spacers installed by slitting them on the flat side, compressing the springs enough to get them in place and banding them with 2 stainless aircraft clamps..but you are supposed to slide them in place....
