rear diff 87 wagoneer

All right, now I'm confused. I've been told that my jeep comes with a D35 in the rear. I was going to get an autolocker for it,but I decided to try doing some research first. So I come accross oldmans look here before you ask any questions and find a pic of my rear diff cover with D44 printed beside it. Is it because I have a towing package? Do they actually come with44's or what? Now I need to figure out my gear ratio.

No, it's a crappy d35. Send it to me for confirmation ;)

'87 are the most common year to have the d44.

Do you have a stick or an automatic?

Auto, the crappy one with first and second in the same slott. Not good for crawlin down hills. Especially with crappy xj brakes.

Sounds like you lucked out man! There is a mod that can change your stock/tow tranny switch on the dash to allow you to lock the trans. into 1st gear. Search around on here, I'm sure its been covered a bunch of times.
