My plans are to install an aftermarket fan in place of the stock electric one. I have one spotted that pulls 1200 cfm, and draws
4 or 5 amps. It will be controlled by an adjustable thermostat. I have the wiring figured out, utilizing the existing relay.

Has anyone done this before, or have any comments?

Thanks.

I bought a Summit brand "flex-a-lite" knockoff and the thing works great. $70 shipped.

yep, replace broken elec with after market. Used the stock wiring but jumped the wires at the sensor in the radiator to keep the fan on full time. Hot here in Fla.

Thanks for the replies, guys. I have my fan ordered; it should be in next week. It'll be switched by an adjustable temp controller that I already have, through the existing relay.

I don't have the original temp sensor in the radiator, since I converted to the 3 row open system. I'm hoping this set-up will work even better than the original. I'll post the results when I get it all hooked up.:)

After about 8 months, I'm finally finished with the cooling upgrade. I installed the aftermarket fan (9" and 1100 cfm), and am controlling it with an adjustable thermo switch (thanks to Chad88XJ for the part number). The thermo switch energizes the existing relay, and the relay turns the fan on/off. Everything works perfectly.

I'm considering removing the relay wire that turns the fan on when the AC is running. This would make the fan run only when it's actually needed. With the 3-core rad, and a 180* thermostat, the temp needle has yet to move above 180*.

No more puddles under the Jeep from belching coolant. Life is good.........

Does anybody have the Flex-a-lite part # that replaces the clutch fan?

Anyone know what cfm the stock electric puts out? Oh yeah, I have a 96 so it's the later style.
