C-clip Welding?

Has anyone welded the c-clips to the axle shafts in the Dana 35 to have somewhat of a bolt in axle? Since i got a 8.8, i wanted to have some fun with the 35 by welding the spider gears. Will welding the c-clips to the shafts turn the dana 35 into somethin that can take me down the trail and back?

Go ahead and weld the c-clips. That way when the shaft breaks, it will still fall out and now you'll have the pleasure of trying to remove the broken shaft retained by the "welded" c-clips. I am probably one of the biggest champions of "run it till you break it" and then some. But welding the c-clips will gain you nothing in strength and make it, well, a real "joy" to replace that broken shaft.
