I might be able to pick up an engine and tranny for a 1992 XJ, for around $300.00. First of all is it worth it? Second I have a 1995 XJ would that matter?

Same engine and tranny type? Should be a good swap. Different number of cylinders or pedals and you might be in for a load of fun...
