View Full Version : vibrations but not driveshaft related

So i have a 2" bb on my '97 and for a while have thought that my vibrations have been caused by lift and consequently lowered the tcase 1". That fixed the original vibes. They have come back in force recently and i've checked ALL my ujoints and they are not the culprits.

I was playing around yesterday and realized that when the jeep is in PARK, if i rev the engine above 2200-2300 rpms, there is a solid audible vibration coming through the petal and floor.

Took it out for a drive and realized that my vibration has been rpm induces as opposed to speed induced. (everytime it was above 2200, it shook)

Any clue what this could be?

What i know so far (correct me if i'm wrong).... not the tcase or driveshafts, bc it happens in park. Motor mounts look fairly new....

Should i take it to autozone and have them read the codes to see if there is a misfiring cylinder or something to that effect?

is your check engine light on?
codes wont happen if the light aint on (IIRC)

also (again IIRC) - there was a thread about a week ago in OEM tech with torque converter and flywheel being loose that were giving some people issues - that might be related? run a search

There are several things that can cause those types of vibes. Check the harmonic balancer, the flex plate to torque convertor bolts, engine mounts, tranny mounts, or even a misfiring plug.

check engine light is not on..

engine and tranny mounts are solid, so it seems.

guess i can narrow it down to harmonic balancer, flex plate to torque converter bolts, and misfiring plug.

thx for the ideas.

well simensez i have the same exact problem to the T. Take a look at my thread in the oem forum section titled rough engine vib. Let me know whats your progress as i am in the exact same boat. I personally seem to have descent mounts and my flexplate seems pretty snug, so i am a bit lost. Anyway let me know.. maybe we can figure this out together.
