Hard brake lines

What diameter hard line do I need for an 88 XJ? I just want to get a roll of tubing and make my own lines rather than pay someone else to bend them for me.

I don't think they're all the same. I don't remember what the sizes are, but they're SAE, not metric. Your best bet would be to get out there with a caliper and check them. I seem to recall that the main line to the rear is larger than some of the others.
