Has anyone tried to touch-up clear-coated factory aluminum wheels (canyon). They tend to get corrosion under the wheel weights and I want to spot sand it and reclear-coat the affected area BEFORE installing my new tires.

Haven't tried it but I've thought about it. Head for a local truck stop and in their store you should find several brands of "jeweler's rouge," which is like a very fine polishing compound. They sell it for polishing aluminum wheels. Buff out any corrosion with this stuff and then spray with the clear coat you can buy at the chain auto parts stores.
