Guys,

I have a '98 XJ with idiot lights and would like to add a aftermarket coolant temp gauge. My question is where do I put the sender? Can I take out whatever sender there is to trip the idiot light and put mine in? Will that cause a "check engine" light to trip?

If anyone has a manufacturer and part number they use I would appreciate that a ton.

Thanks!

Your idiot light is controlled by the PCM. To install an aftermarket temp gauge you'll have to find someplace where you can insert a sender that will get the business end into a coolant passage. I haven't looked at one of the new ones -- is there a boss on the rear corner of the head where the older models had the sender for their gauge?
