Last night, I was messing around with my electric fan. I ran a wire from the fan to the fuse panel inside the XJ. I found an open terminal that was only hot when the ignition was on, and slid a male blade connector in there for my hot. It worked for a couple of minutes and quit. I later noticed that none of my guages work any more. All guages including tach and speedo. I checked all fuses at the panel as wall as the big ones under the hood. Don't see any that are bad.
Anyone know where the may be a fuse or fusable link for this?
Or even where the guages get their power from?
Almost forgot...96XH 4.0 HO AW4, full guage cluster.
TIA, Dan

I think I figured it out, found a bad fuse tucked way up high. I don't have one to replace it with so I'll get one after work.
I'll keep everyone posted.
Let me know if you have any other ideas while I sit at my computer all day.
TIA, Dan

That was it, pesky fuses! I thought I triple checked all the fuses but I must have been overlooking that particular one.
Gotta feel stupid sometimes.

Way up high where? I'm planning a guage face swap and I'd kinda like to know where all of those little buggers are hidin'. I know mine is probably different than yours, but just in case...
TIA!

It was on the fuse panel up near the top. I think it was # 17.
I don't know how I missed it three times but what can I say? All is good in XJ town.
Maybe if I had an owner's manual, I would what fuses are what.
