Alright, I'm sitting in class, and i just finished 2 online quizes. The first was on a chapter I covered yesterday and the second was one that was not covered in class by our section.
The first quiz i got a 60% because there was at least one impossible question (ie. no one got it right). And others were made to trick you.
The second quiz i got an 80% on (yea, I'm stupid) and i though it was not that bad.
WTF?! is all i have to say, i mean the prof cant teach to start with and this quizes are impossible!!!!! I mean he says he is all about non-tricky questions, rather ones that make you think but are not made to deceive you, BULLSHIT! And this guy is my advisor?!?! :(
AHAHAHAHAHAH!!!
ok, had to vent, I think i need to get drunk... shit i have to wait for the weekend....

Ahha!!! They want you to *THINK*, but you want to *drink*. Sounds like a conflict of priorities.
Plenty of time to drink later when you fail in life. Best to put that aside and concentrate on school for now.

Id rather have a fulltime job and a mortgage. Right now im in school and i work 3 different jobs. Im about to have a mortgage because im about to buy a house. So dont think having a fulltime job and a mortgage is all that hard..

Nope, plenty have full time jobs and houses. Not all that hard. Trailer homes are cheap. :)
Good for you that you are a school kid and have a job. Parents must be proud.

school is not just about learning the material, its about learning to understand how people think and how that makes society work. but if the prof. really does suck, drop the class before its too late. a W is better than an F. oh yeah choose your classes based on Prof's not on topic. www.ratemyproffesor.com is a damn good resource.

 :confused1 You can't pass a quiz and can barely pass another and it is his fault? Why don't you put the bong down and pick up a book? The prof is there to make it easy? The word is called study. Don't worry though, if you ever need a gig, I always need someone to ask, "Do you want fries with that?"

:worship: yup. School is supposed to be easy ? I think they call it social advancement so the kiddies don't get their feelings hurt.

I can vouch for the fact that alot of those online quizzes are bs but don't you have a window of time where you can retake them until you are satisfied with your grade or did you wait till the last minute. Thats how all of the ones I've even taken or heard of were. Some of the questions are pretty tricky it that you can know the correct answer but don't know the response they are looking for but being able to retake them with different questions usually allevitates that. That is unless you wait to the last minute of course.

1st  to Hunter... wisdom from the mouth of babes.
2nd  to Chris for the Phd in documenting ill-advised habits
3rd  to NCSUCherokee... I learned too much about bituminous pavement in a building just like that by a non-good english speaking Indian Dr Kohsla. It was worth $3000 gross salary just to STFU and learn so I did. He knew his topic... getting it across in North Carolinian was lacking...
4th: Thumbs down to anyone who can't "learn" from a teacher. If it is a >< thing, transfer out... don't make yourself or your peers suffer. At the JHS/HS level kids are some captive within their classes, but in college, I can recall several students who merited a piano wire surprise quiz...

I guess I am one of 'those' profs/teachers. Thanks for reminding me what slackoffs students can be. :D I just finished rewriting tomorrow's quiz for some juniors in philosophy. Hopefully it will provoke some thought and some study habits for the next term... The last question, a 50 point essay question, just one word: "Why?"
They have four pages and an hour to answer it. And the best part, I don't have to be there to give the quiz or mark it, I'll just get a teaching assistant to do it :D. Bwahahahahahahahah!

That explains my grade in Controls... try saying LaPlace Transform with a Chinese accent.
OTOH, I had an Indian professor for a Materials & Manufacturing class named Dr Tirupathi R Chandrupatla, with a good sense of humor. Many of my classmates were bored to tears, but I listened intently as he peppered his lectures with subtle jokes... "Tomorrow we shall study boring, which shall prove most interesting."

Unless you are Sir Edmund Hillary, in which case you can use, "Because it was there" as your answer. :DAh Jim, the only A++ in the bunch! :D You earned it, "why not" was my right answer all along. Perfect score. Funnily enough, the only one who got it was the kid who's doing the worst in the class right now. Hie totalled the rest of the quiz but aced the 50 pointer. He probably wrote "why not" as a "screw you" to me, but hey, it deserves an A+, 50 out of 50....

Brief Introduction to Philosophical Thought 100. But I prefer to refer to it as Hypercubic Metacognition 101. Let's see who can figure out why...
okay i'd like to take a guess at this...
hypercubic = points to a mathmatical expression of the 4th dimension?
metacognition = higher intelligence and the use of that intelligence to actively learn (meta being higher level and cognition a form of understanding and learning)?
so...is it that the answers you get are so far out there that they are actually applicable to the question???
really i am just guessing, not being what one would call an intellectual.
i kinda just glided through school, and college (twice). never studied, but never got lower than a 3.5 high school, and a 3.8 college. i have come to the conclusion that intelligence is a funtion of DNA. do a search on psychometrics and that will give you some insight... i made some great friends at school so thats more of what i take from it.
bad professors do exist....more so when you are not really into being in school in the first place.
my favorite professer was this guy from germany. big time engineer with a super thick accent. his accent was what made the course hard. non-destructive testing and failure analysis is otherwise pretty neat.
funny how i get older i feel like i should have paid more attention to the homework than the location of parties...LOL

Fair enough though, your interpretation is literally accurate, but there are multiple meanings to the words I used, and my intended use is along the lines of other meanings... Any other takers before I give it away? What is meant by "Hypercubic Metacognition"? Anyone, anyone? :lecture:

community college is great. The purpose is to learn but i cant even get into 100 level classes so i sit around with a couple buddies and just stare at girls all day. Its not all that bad i guess. Whats even better about community college is that you can just not do the work and seem to pass classes. The work is definitly hard though. High school did not prepare me for any of the material I have to study. Thank god for hot tutors!
