Yeah... I just got done paying 250% above face value for U2 tickets so the wifey can be at Bono's feet (It is good ammo to get that SYE and DS though). And I got that off an auction with no reserve price!! I just talked to the guy selling the tickets and he sounds like he is 19 working out of his dorm room, except he had kick-ass tickets to every show in N. America. WTF??? Does anybody know how they do that? We had two phones and two computers with high speed connections going at time of release and all we could muster was seats in the nose-bleed section. My only guess that all these people have some sort of connection to Ticketmaster and get them ahead of time because sure enough, minutes after the release time ebay was flooded with people selling.

And then there are the "service fees" that can be up to 50% of ticket prices...Just sucks that the fans get shafted like that. :rattle:
I feel better (until the credit card bill shows up)

Anybody who spends that kind of money to see ANYONE is absolutely nuckin futs and I mean that with all my being. The concert industry is only one step above the oil industry in ethics. Back in the late 60's I worked at fillmore east in the village, weekends. Tickets to see zepplin were $7-10, hell, three day tickets to woodstock were only $30. As for ticket availability, for sure there are kickbacks under the table for preferred customers, it's an industry all by itself. The rock/pop/rap record and recording industry is the most corrupt there is.
We go to a couple of local theaters that have a few big name entertainers but once the tickets get over about $50 they can KMA....

I agree with you 100% We go to a show about once a month and the average price is $10 where we can buy them at the door the night of the show. I don't even really want to go, but... she hasn't seen them in forever and the 1000 other reasons why it is worth it. She doesn't have the expensive hobby that I do, so what the hell.

I don't even think that the record companies or the bands benefit this type of practice. Ticketmaster might get a couple extra bucks from the people making sure that they get the tickets first. It is just the middle man that jacks it up. It is frustrating to see the major ticket distributor participate in this practice.

I saw U2 when they opened up for the J Giles Band...they were great, saw them again on the Joshua Tree tour...again great! I'm not sure when, but a couple of years later I had the chance to see them and I got so sick of Bono preaching is Irish views of American issues. Play your freakin music and thats it. Why is it that musicians and the freaks in Hollyweird think that what they have to say is important to the average person in the US.

Holy cow! someone get me off this soap box, its unfamiliar territory.

It's the seldom heard of U2 tax.

Don't you know that you get taxed for everything that is bad.
