What should I expect to pay to do a junkyard swap for rear disc brakes? I can probably get a ZJ disc D44 for next to nothing. I also see that you can buy the axle retainer plates from the dealer, any idea on the cost of those? Thanks Jason

My buddy has found a decent Jeep junkyard and has gotten me a set of backing plates and caliper mounts for $50. He got me a set of core calipers for $30.

I'd like to know too. I've been looking for a ZJ dana 35, but I don't want to spend $250 on it.

I have found some info on the price of the retainers from the dealer. Anywhere from $6 and up more info on disc swap at http://www.stu-offroad.com/brakeconv/bc-1.htm If no has seen this link. Hopefully within the next month I will start my conversion.

Sorry for the bump, but does this retainer plate replace the need for a custom spacer like madxj (http://www.madxj.com/MADXJ/technical/technicalfiles/BAzjRearDiscsOnXJ/ZJrearDiscsOnXJ.htm) used? Because I am in need of both retainer plates and a spacer....will this work correctly?

yes it replaces the custom made spacer... but XJ and ZJ axle flanges have a different bolt pattern, so you will either have to re-drill all the brake parts, or re-drill the axle flange.
