Shock Mount

Hey all,

i'm asking this question for a friend with an XJ..He's got a 94 with around 7 inches of lift, today he was driving down the road (normal driving, not like a nut)...and he broke the shock mount completley off, he says his shocks are long enough, anything else that could cause this?

It could have been torn or cracked from a hard hit before and the natural resistance of the shock could have eventually ripped it completely off. I assume you are talking about the rear axle. His shocks could be long enough, but unless he is bumpstopped properly, the shock will limit the uptravel. When you bottom out all of that force is transmitted straight to the shock mounts.
