XJ VIN question

OK, searched on this but couldn't find a direct answer. Hopefully someone can clear this up for me.

I'm looking at an ad for an XJ with 'J' in the 5th position of the VIN. Usually, the 5th position is either an 'F' or 'T' to signify four- or two-wheel-drive, respectively.

Is 'J' a valid character for this position? I'm thinking it's a typo, but as the seller isn't answering their phone I can't just call them to verify the drivetrain.

What year is it?

my 93's got a "J" in the 5th position. http://www.autoinsurancetips.com/jeep_vin.htm
this might help.

86 to 88 the 5th is for tranny options- J would be auto/column/fulltime 4wd

89 to 91 renix, 5th is the line model- J is comanche4wd

84-88 is tranny-no J

D'oh, I Should've specified... It's purporting to be a 2001 (IIRC). So far, all 2000s & 2001s I've run across with the NP242 case have had 'F' in the fifth position.

Yes, that was one of the resources I ran across while searching, hence my confusion as that PDF stops at 1998.
