Wondering if anyone knows of a good and honest mechanic in the Park City area...or Heber area...
The XJ just decided to not fire for the wife this afternoon after work. Thinking of picking up a CPS and seeing if that's the problem as I have no idea what else would make it just not work all of a sudden without any symptoms...If that doesn't work I'm just going to have to have someone else fix it for me  since I don't have any time...or any idea where to start.

Sounds like a CPS issue. Here's a quick and not always successful test: follow the CPS wiring up the top rear of the engine until you find where it's plugged into another run of wiring. Unplug it for a few minutes, reattach it and try to start the engine.

Matt,
I have a good used CPS out of my 88 if you want it. I bought a new one and it didn't fix the problem. PM me if you want to give it a try.

Hey matt,
commute to your neck of the woods in my XJ every day. that is until this morning when it wouldn't start up.... I think my problem is different than yours, did my CPS 40k miles ago w/ 130k on the clock.
Now I've got two jeeps that won't start
oh the joys of owning two jeeps..........I've got to go work on one of mine now....
hope you find a good shop,

Freak...thanks for the offer but I'm set now...
The problem indeed turned out to be the CPS...only thing is that it basically shorted out against the bell housing and scrambled the computer...even with a new one in the computer was fubar and wouldn't allow things to start until it was flashed...
Either way it's up and running now...and I even let them fix that pesky tranny leak that I was just too lazy to get to...or was it that I just wasn't too excited about doing the work in the freakin cold...all that matters is that she's runnin like new again :sunshine:
Blue where do you work up this way?

Ohhh yeah...that's why we moved back here rather than SL...commuting to Park City from Heber is sooooooo much nicer than heading up Parley's every day....that inversion would drive me NUTS...
