Hey Jeepers!

I've been thinking about building a rear spare tire carrier for my Cherokee XJ, and have seen a lot of nice designs on the internet. I haven't found any detailed drawings of a carrier, but have done some scetches myself. Does someone have a link, pictures or good drawings of a spare tire carrier for the Cherokee, and I would be very happy!

Thanks in advance!

Not exactly what you're looking for but might give you some ideas you can incorporate into your design.

Not sure how much it will help you. It's looks like ZPD has some detailed photos and a good idea.

One simple feature about my design is the rod that sticks out of the mounting plate. This makes it so much easier to mount the spare tire on. Other manufactures have two or three bolts that stick out and then you are trying to line up all three while holding up an 80 lb. tire. It isn't very easy. Other's have nuts welded to the mounting plate and you are trying to balance the tire while lining up the bolts. With my design you only have to line up one hole with the rod and then while that is holding the weight of the tire, you put in two bolts to hold the tire to the carrier.
