Spline Count???

Aight guys stupid question. I have a 1988 4.0 inline 6 cherokee with a auto trans. What spline count do I have or how would i find it out? Reason is i have a np242 and want to upgrade to a 231. Any help is welcome.

i think the 242 is an upgrade from the 231... but thats just my opinion...
ill swap ya!

depending on if yours will fit ill trade. what year is yours out of?? how many miles? what engine/trans? any cracks or problems

An 88 should be 21 spline.

according to advanced adapters it can either be 21 or 23 spline with a prodtruded shaft.

In '88 it should be 21 spline with an AW4. 23 spline if it had an AX15.
