Blinkers stuck "on"

I’m having a strange electrical problem with my 91 XJ.

The blinker lights stay on all the time even when the ignition is off.
When I use the right turn signal the right blinker blinks off on, off on.
When I use the left turn signal nothing happens.

The front turn signal blinkers don’t blink at all

any ideas?

i need to get it inspected tomorrow and i don't think it will pass with this

1. Check your bulbs in the front

2. Check the sockets in the front (use a meter to test for power/ground to the socket prongs)

3. Check for power at the headlight/blinker connection harness located behind the driver's headlight (might be inside under the airbox, you might have to dig to get it out).
A haynes manual gave me all the info I needed to fix my problem.

I found a broken ground prong inside a binker socket. Cheap, easy low effort fix to replace the socket.

My blinkers were off with the ignition, but all the other symptoms you described were similar.

Check the Alternator & Battery- ASAP!!

Had the same probs for about 2 days then the Alternator died. She ran off the battery for a good while, which made the blinkers solid and the wipers slow.
