I'm trying to figure out vacation time off for this trip...is it safe to assume we'll be hitting the trail early Friday morning (the 20th)? Anybody plan to camp Thursday night near Tahoe? If we are leaving early Friday a.m. I will probably need to take both Thurs. and Friday off...

Anyway, looking forward to this trip!

Yeah, I'm wondering where and when we should meet up on Friday morning. I'll be driving up after work on Thursday, so it will be late when I get there. I'm assuming we would group up at the staging area, but what time on Friday morning.....8 am? 9 am? Can we camp at the staging area? Is there a better place to camp if we get there late? I'd probably just throw my air mattress and sleeping bag on the ground.

Where is the staging area? Is that at the top of Cadillac, or closer to Tahoe? Can't remember much but that long rutted dirt road out from the top of Cadillac...

Just got back from AZ tonight so I'll have to talk to Andy on where the best place to meet would be. If people know where the staging area is(the parking lot with restrooms) that'd probably be the best place to meet, otherwise we'll have to meet at a gas station or something. It'd be nice to meet at 9:00A.M. and start the trail at 10:00. Then we'd have a nice afternoon to relax at Buck.
Richard, I'm not sure if it's alright to camp at the staging area but if you head up the trail a bit there are plenty of places to camp out.

Scott, the staging area is a few miles in from Lake Tahoe, where the road is still asphalt. It's a large parking area with some bathrooms.

So is the plan to run it backwards still? Richard, Marni and I moved to rocklin which is about 20 miles nearer tahoe on 80 from Sacto. The offer is still open to stay here on Thursday night. I think I should be able to goe with y'all, I just need to make sure that my rig is streetable before then.

Sean, thanks for the offer, I think I'll take you up on it. If they don't plan to leave the staging area until 10:00 there should be plenty of time to get up there in the morning. I'll be leaving Bakersfield sometime between 4:00 and 5:00 on Thursday afternoon. I hope you can make the trip, it would be nice to get some wheeling in with you. After what you've been through lately, I'm sure you could use the R and R.

I guess I'll just plan on meeting up at the staging area around 9:00 am.--hopefully it's not too tough to find.

Dad and I will drive up Thursday afternoon and try to find somewhere nearby to camp and be ready to go Friday morning. I assume everyone will be on channel 4?
