We have got about 2' in town in the past 24 hours, and about 3 at my place. The berm to get into the drive was just slightly over the hood of the jeep. Campus is down, essential personnel(snow shovelers) only, and trees and power are out all over. The local ski area has over a 100" base right now. Here are some pics.

Sure makes me glad I don't haul cars for a living anymore. I used to run to Phoenix all the time and hated driving through flagstaff in the snow...Seems like they get two inches and are shutting the freeways down. Must be all the Phoenix drivers. Have to say though that looks like fun.

Yeah, I thought it was going to be about picking the wrong line, bashing your door and bitching about it... :wierd:

Keep that crap out west of clevland, though I did go out and fill up all my kero containers a few hours ago in anticipation of the ice storm we are expecting. Should not be problem though, we've had about 8 days of solid rain over the last two weeks and the ground is like a soft soggy sponge with two or three days in the high 60's.
And here I been thinking about retiring to the west, was thinking maybe ariz or newmex, fawk that, after years of being on this forum I figure you guys get more snow than we ever get... guess I'll start looking in the carolina's now... I want someplace where I don't need my snow blower or blade for my tractor...

Hey! There is a stop light in one of those pics.
I have to drive 20 miles to see one of those.
But I only pay $1.96/gal for diesel though.
Looking like that is what I will wake up to tomarrow.

Living proof that going over a concrete barrier in a paid parking lot in order to avoid a $10 fee WILL eventually catch up to you... :D

Flagstaf is like the Bastard step child of Arizona though. I have been in Pheonix when its over a 100 degrees and drive two hours north to Flagstaf and had them shut the roads down because its snowing. And if you ever look its like what were the people thinking that built that town...Flat for a hundred miles in every direction and they have to build it right on top of the mountain....Go figure. :wierd:

I prefer to think that Flag is normal(well, except for the trust fund babies) and the rest of AZ is dicked up. Who the hell would live where it gets to 120*??
Time to post? I'm sitting here at my wife's work as the heat is out at my apt, and I have spent most of the day clearing all the snow you see at the house, and my parent's elderly neighbors house too.
And the deep snow isnt good when you have ATs that dont like to clean themselves out and you have to call a buddy to get pulled out of your own driveway at 9pm at night.

Have to agree with you on the heat....I hate the heat.

Tucson's not bad for the heat. Only about 100*. Maybe 110* on rare occasions. I drove around with no A/C for the majority of 4 yrs there. Plus, Mt Lemmon is only 45 minutes away and you're at 7000 feet and 30* cooler. :D

I wish that were true, but I think back to the 2000 election where THIS county was the only one in the state to vote for algore. :wierd: :gag:
Flag's got the best weather in the state, but WAY too many tree-huggers!
Pull you out at 9:30PM? That's a GOOD friend! :laugh3:

95* is too hot...in fact 85* is too. I like where you live. When I was hauling cars I used to load at San Diego auto auction. Know where that is? off of Douglas and North River road? Anyway always like 65-70 there even if it was 100* anywhere else.

yeah, must say the weather is quite nice here...too bad I'm leaving in July-August for Joshua Tree (near 29 Palms, middle of the Mojave desert). Last time I was in 29 Palms, it hit 127* on the 4th of July

Why in heck is diesel still so expensive? It's cheaper to make than gasoline! When my daughter borrowed my diesel truck to move back to Tennessee last summer, they had to pay $3.00 in Needles. I guess everything is relavent!

It has to do supply and demand. Since I got my new job I have been learning alot about how the oil industry works...It would make you sick! For example we have been hauling crude oil out of the Utinta Basin here in Utah. My boss calls me one day to say we aren't going out there. Why? Because there supply is up in the refinery and if they keep it up they have to lower prices.
All this you hear about our oil being expencive because of the Saudis. Don't belive a word of it. Its the US oil companys that want a bigger profit. They keep the prices high by not producing enough...even though they can produce all they want.

No clue why diesel is so expensive. When I had my diesel Chevy Luv, it was cheap, less than regular gas.
The snow has now turned to a very nice sheet of ice, and all of a sudden, my brakes are spongy and it is difficult to stop. Super. On the upside, got my wife's car unstauck after two days of not moving.
And, the local ski area has a base of +100" at mid-mountain.
