This is the reason I won't ever go to another Easter Jeep Safari.
What do you guys think?

It's a huge problem. I can see the logic in making the trails one-way, but I don't think it's either legal or morally acceptable to close any BLM trails (roads) to the general public. After all, they belong to the general public.
I heard/saw some rumors about splitting EJS into two parts, a couple of weeks apart. Anything further on this?

So these events aren't much more than parades, so do you object to the city of Pasadena closing Colorado BLVD for the Tournament of Roses Parade? Or any other parade in the country where they all close the road for a time to do their thing?
RR4Wers do donate a lot of money for great ORGs that help keep our trails open!
IMO its not such a bad thing. Easter event is a RR event and is just once a year. If you got to be drunk and wheel and be a jerk go to Moab some other time of year. It IS the event that bring all the jeepers together its just A LOT don't like to play nice.

Excellent points. Putting it like that changes my opinion on the entire situation, Hinky.

I see both sides of the issue also. So now I just won't go. I actually support the red rockers. Without them most trails in Moab would be closed. The problem is that its the EJS that brings all the jerks to that town. Sure they don't pay to run the trails but they show up anyway. If RR4W would have done what so many people wanted and moved it to a later date to get rid of the young party crowd then they wouldn't have to close down the trails anyway.
For me this all started when we were on a trail the same time the EJS was running it. We waited until they went up Kane Creek first then followed them up. They stopped for lunch and we passed them(we only had four or five of us). As soon as we passed them they started to follow us. When we got to the hard part at the top someone was having a little dificulty on an obstical and the trail leader came unglued...told us how we were blocking HIS trail and the proceded to show me his pistol and made some vauge threats. Now you have to understand we were not blocking the trail. If we held them up for even a minute I would have been suprised. Anyway we filed a formal complaint agains that trail leader but I noticed the next two years he was still leading trails.
For me I will just stick to the Naxja runs and other times when the Red rockers are not holding events. If they want to own the trails on those weekends fine but if they start doing that you will see the revenue Moab takes in on Easter fall off sharply.. But then again maybe that isn't such a bad thing either.
