Vac Disco

Alright, this kid I know was asking me about axles and such. He wanted the best 44 front for his rig with the least amount of modification, and it needed to be around 61" WMS. So I said his best bet was to find a 44 front from a '80 - '92 waggy. Well I didn't think he was that serious about it (you would have to talk to him for an hour to understand this). So I didn't bother to say to stay away from the '83 - '85 vac disco front ends. So he swings by my place the other day with this axle he just picked up for $200. Out of an '85 waggy of course, so vacuum disco. Is there any way to delete this? A 30 is easy because it is on the tube but the 44 disco is built into the housing. Any info? I found this old thread, but it didn't have to much to offer......
