D44 Inner pinion race

D44 rear pinion's inner race doesn't want to go in past 1/2 - 1/3 of the way. D30 races went in 'ok' & using same method (2 x 4 w/ hammer) this race just doesn't want to co-operate...

I just threw it in the freezer to "shrink" it a bit & idea is to use old pinion w/ old bearing as a 'seating tool' for the new race.

Any reason not to do this or is there a better method?

Problem solved: Freezing race worked like a charm!
