TPS got wet from leaks in hood vents. My xj auto trans won't shift out of first till about 4500 rpm, and shifts erratically.

Assuming its the TPS can I do anything to fix it, dry it, whatever, or do I need to replace. Last time this happened it spontaniously fixed itself after 6 weeks or so sitting in the sun.

This time even with hair dryer, running engine, etc. doesn't seem much change,
though I think before I did all this it wouldn't shift out of first at all, and now seems to do so at 4500 rpm, but goes back to first with same problem if I slow down, and then again only shifts up at about 4500 rpm.

I've looked at lots of threads about adjusting the TPS, but assuming it got wet and thats why I can't shift, what can I do, i
