There have been hush-hush meetings between my boss and a company VP today. My desk is right beside my boss's office. They came out for about 5 minutes and I heard the VP say (to my boss) "You don't want to go to jail. We're already bending the law." (in hushed tones)

That's all I heard as they went back into his office to continue their conversation.

I don't need to hear crud like that!
Especially at Christmas time.....

But, oh well....what can I do, right?

This is the first hint of any problems that I've heard of,
but it really bites to think that the ship might be sinking.... :rattle:

not naming the company at this time, but it's on the nyse.

At least I may have a heads-up over the rest of my co-workers...

nobody has a job until something gets sold.........and if the CEO whacks the Sales Comp plan as a way to reduce overhead........it's kind of like tossing the motor to lighten the boat.

And keep them, until way past the statue of limitations.

Could be worse, you could be working for the Gobernment.
Needed to cut expenses, decided maintenance was the way to do it, gave my boss a heart attack, ran me out with BS and replaced us with a Kiwi spy (no kidding, there is such a thing) and a local hire (who happened to be a muslim) to appease the local union. The Muslim got caught the third day at work, for pilfering blank passports, the Kiwi walks around all day writing in his little notebock. :us:

Start polishing the resume?

Something similar happened at a place I once worked, except nobody overheard the VP talking to the senior manager about staying out of jail. One morning about 10:00 a.m. six gentlemen in dark suits walked in the front door. Did I mention that these gentlemen wore guns? They proceeded to show the office manager (the boss was out of town) a search warrant, herded all of us into the library, and there we sat -- all day, while they searched the office, boxed up files, made a complete tape back-up of the accounting department computer AND THEN TOOK THE COMPUTER. Four searched, two stayed in the library, just in case one armed FBI agent wasn't enough to handle a bunch of architects and secretaries.

Sounds like they were thorough. :laugh3:
