Hey all, i'm new here and am in the middle of barganing for a 1988 Cheroke LTD, but before i do i would like to know how difficult or how costly it would be to lift this sucker a little more.
By the looks of it it seems to have the factory lift which is roughy 2.5".
Is there any way to get this thing upto 5-6" with minimal effort or givin minimal cash to a shop? I am not an extreme 4x4er since time does not permit, but i just love the look of 'em raised like that . Is 5-6" too big of a dream, or can i only do something smaller on a budget ?
thanks

1. factory "lift" is the up country package which i think was about an inch at most.
2. cheapest way to go 4-5" is about 400 bucks.
3.id advise you to get a 3" and some 31's and wheel it. much less problems there.

my 89' had a 1 inch or so lift on it when I got it.. got 1.75 spacers for the front ($30), had s-10 leafs lying around, built a pack and it gave me 4 inches, bought rebound clamps ($15) and the lift was complete. Hog out the fenders, mount YJ flares ($30), and slap 34" LTBs.... the wheels and tires cost the most.... this gave me about 3-3.25 in the front and 4 or so in the rear. I know it sits a little funny, but I will get front springs when a deal comes around...

are these special type of spacers or is it just a metal block ? can i make this? and where do they go? must i stop at 1.75" or can i go bigger?

any year leafs will do, and can i use them from another truck instead? so these leafs give that much more height than the stock ones on the jeep already even though they are stock ones from an s10?
what are rebound clamps, how do they work?
sorry guys, like i said, im kinda a newbie :D so i need quite some help.
thanks so far... oh and i do have a set of 31s kickin in my garage already...

the spacers that he is talking about are poly spacers, not to much. And as far as the leafs go just make sure that they are the same width as the old ones, but watch out that they are not to thick or it wont ride very good or flex for that matter. http://www.lunghd.com/Tech_Articles/Suspension_Steering_Axles_and_Brakes/Budget_Lift.htm check out this site it has some good info on it. And good luck
