Looking to mount a CB antenna to my bolt on ConFer Roof rack. It's pinch bolted to the original luggage rails. Are those rails grounded to the unibody?
Thanks...

Should be they are bolted to the roof.

Depends. The cinch nuts on my factory rails are rubber and effectively insulate the rack. It would be easy to fix. I've not really seen that much difference in power. The big thing is that the rack be big enough to act as a ground plane. It will get it's ground from the shield on the coax. It's not ideal, but who lives in an ideal world.

I guess it depends on the year, just pulled the rack on my 95 to do a Cheromanche conversion.the nut-serts were all metal!

I have a conferr rack with the CB antenna mounted to it. Works fine. Whats your email address and I'll send you a picture? I don't know how to post pics.

I have a conferr rack too and antenna is mounted to it. But my rack is bolted through the actual roof and re-enforced from the inside. All works good.
