Let me guess.

You're a USC fan and wanted them to play Auburn. Now you mad because there is a good chance they'll lose.

Or one of the ones that thinks that the Rose Bowl should be PAC10/Big10. As much as I hate Texass, It gives me joy to know that the Rose bowl was screwed out of thier precious matchup again. I'm not the only one who thinks this way. You can thank Keith Jackson and his homer attitude for that.

You people really do crack me up. Everyone knows the BCS rules before the season begins and then they cry at the end of the season.

As far as the Orange Bowl goes, the BCS got it right, #1-vs-#2, the way it should be. While I do think at least a plus 1 format should be implemented, the system is what it is and nobody's ever gonna be completely happy.

Hey Bill, here's our matchup that we wanted. Prepare to go down.

Here we go... :laugh3:
The BCS DID matchup the concensus #1 and #2...THIS year. I'd be ****ed if I was an Auburn fan though. They went undefeated playing in a tougher conference than the Big 12 OR the Pac 10 (my opinion) and won't get a chance to play for all the marbles. THAT is a crappy system.
Now, about the Orange Bowl... I predict Jason White will have another season-ending stinker (like last year!) with USC rolling easily. IF however he plays well, USC will have their hands full. :gag: The two teams are very similar, both with top QBs and RBs. I'd give the edge to USC for overall team speed.
It should be a great game.

Nice shot on White, Bill. You know he broke his wrist at the beginning of the BigXII champ game. Blame Stoops for not pulling him and playing the backup, but even the backup wasn't better than White with a broken wrist. Sad, I know. Now he's healthy and throwing better and smarter than last year.

As for the SEC being tougher all around than the BigXII, you're right. However 5 teams in the BigXII South are better than all but the top 2 of the SEC and Tenn. isn't all that good. Auburn simply didn't play as tough a scheldule as OU and USC. Period. The have no reason to complain. That will be proven when the Hokies beat them.

Ou doesnt play all of the crappy BigXII North (thankfully), but they do play the entire South Div. and with the exception of Baylor, THAT is a tougher schedule than Auburn's.

As for the Heisman, I think they should hold it until the end of the Nat'l Champ. game and give it to the MVP, since the top 4 candidates will be in THAT game.

Now for the trash talk.
USC better hope White and Peterson fall off the plane, because, if not, they're gonna be getting hit with bombs and run over by a train. Everyone's healthy and that spells bad news for SC. USC isn't as good as they were last year (I bet they miss Williams) and OU's seconday is better than they have been all year and the D-line is killing everyone. I predict an offensive shut down of SC by OU and a 3 touchdown win by the Sooners. No more free pass for the Trojans.

Maybe next year, Bill.

Man I love that we can bag on eachother's teams and this year we get to actually see who's better.

But at least NIU will be playing in a Bowl.
Whoever Troy State is. :D

I wish the MAC got more recogniton from the BCS.
The MAC is a tough confrence.

GO Huskies!

Great idea on the Heisman, Terry! I wish they'd do it.
21 point win by OU?? That's tough to comprehend. IF White and Peterson have GREAT games, it could be close. If not, USC by 14.

Actually, I am not a USC fan. What is going to happen when Utah, USC or OU, Boise State (maybe), and Auburn all go undefeated? I don't mind that there are that many great teams out there, I preferred if each team were given a 100% fair chance to compete for the national championship. You can't tell me that the "playoffs" for the national championship begin at week one, do the midmajors have to schedule a few perennial powerhouses to have a shot each year?

Good argument, but do you honestly think that UU or BSU would have a chance at even coming close to even beating Auburn? If you do you are seriously delusional.

The 2 proven best teams (well, OU anyway, SC had a pass) are playing for the Nat'l Champ. Auburn just didn't prove it. The other 2 unbeatens are extremely outclassed in this group.

My "ideal" scenario would be a playoff of the top 8 BCS teams. I would be very happy with a 4 team playoff. As it is, OU has been on the good end of the BCS the last two years, so I really don't have much to complain about.

And yes, to even be considered for a top spot in the BCS, the Mid Majors would have to schedule at least one powerhouse and beat them. Just ask Auburn how important a QUALITY win over a powerhouse is.

BTW, never argue football with an OU fan. It's all we think about all year.

UU or BSU may not beat any of the top three teams, but they should be given a chance. College football is eliminating the chance that there can be a cinderella teamd. Think about the Red Sox last year, the two best teams (by record) in MLB last year were NYY and St. Louis. If the MLB had the BCS there would be no curse broken for Boston. There would be no cinderella teams like NC State or the Hoosiers in NCAA basketball.

I agree with you on the playoff system, there should be 8 teams, 4 would be okay but not as great. A playoff system is workable, you only need 2 days of football (for 4 teams) and 3 days (for 8 teams).

BTW, I am not trying to argue, just trying to find some intelligent people to talk football with.

just trying to find some intelligent people to talk football with.
That was low :gag:.

Think of it like this:
There is an 8th grader (Utah). He kicks all of the other 8th graders' asses along with one or two others (Mid Majors). He thinks he's tough and he even looks tough to everyone else.

There is a 12th grader (OU). He kicks all of the other 12th graders' asses along with one or two others (USC and Auburn). Everyone is sure that these 12th graders are the toughest guys around.

One day everyone gets thier way and a fight is set up between the 8th graders and the 12th graders. The 8th grader gets in some good shots, but it's apperant who is bigger, stronger, faster and more skilled. We all know the outcome. Now everyone just says the 8th graders needs to fight with kids thier own size.

It's a nice thought to include UU and BSU and the other Mid Majors in your playoff, but in reality, they will still have trouble getting past the 9th, 10th, and 11th graders.

Leave the rumbles to the big kids.

I wasn't trying to take a shot, sorry if it seemed that way.
Your analogy is unique but does not take into account all of the variables. Such as the 8th graders knowledge of kung fu. Sorry, had to play along.

That's cold Terry! :laugh3:
Anything can happen on a given day. That doesn't make a team better, just better that day. I think Auburn, Utah or even Boise State could hang with anyone on a given day. Stranger things HAVE happened. :wierd:
At least twice in the last few years, BETTER teams were passed up for the BcS bowl for still unbelieveable reasons, and the lesser teams that DID go were quickly exposed and destroyed in the "game". It's better this year, as you have the #1 and #2 playing. (UNLIKE last year) Auburn did everything it could do in a tough conference, and a lesser bowl is all they'll get for it. That's kinda tough to take. I agree with you that no one will be happy until who's best is settled on the field instead of a ballot. That means a playoff.

This is where my animosity began:
I was okay that USC and OU got to play eachother for the national championship, I expected this. However, what upset me was when Cal got dropped to the Holiday Bowl in favor of Texas. This resulted in Cal, a BCS #5 team dropping from a major BSC bowl. I think the Bears should have gone to the Fiesta Bowl. Instead, Pittsburg (8-4) #21 in the BCS, will get a shot against Utah for the sole reason that they won the Big East. This is my main problem with the BCS. They got the matchup right #1 vs #2, but they slipped on putting Pitt in the Fiesta Bowl all because of BCS contracts.
