I agree, well said. I felt the need to speak up as well but you pretty much said it all. I don't understand why anyone with an XJ or MJ would not want to join.

They're probably afraid of that crotchety old phart from NAXJA who got himself banned from JU by telling a kid who wrecked his XJ (rolling it 3-1/2 times "but I wasn't speeding") that he was a loser because his primary concern was getting the stereo head out before the insurance adjuster saw the wreck, and not the fact that he had almost killed his so-called best friend.

Unfortunately, being both a Yankee and of an older generation, I was raised to call 'em as I see 'em, and some folks just can't handle that :(

Eagle, if it makes you feel any better, I'm NOT an old fart, and I like to slap on the truth myself, don't know any different. Maybe that's why we get along so good?

I appreciate the sentiment, mate ... but yer still not my type.

Some people are just natural-born sponges, too. We just had one of those at the NAC trail ride in Massachusetts. This kid has plenty of money to spend on goodies for his XJ, and he has come to several of our rides, but when I asked if he'd considered joining he said he refuses to join any organization that charges dues. Same kid has a CTJEEP.ORG sticker on his bumper that he got from a friend in that group, but he also refuses to join them.

I can't figure it out. I think it has something to do with what sociologists call an "entitlement mentality."
