Hey southeast people. It's been a while since I've been around. Finaly got another truck. It's not a cherokee, but it was cheap and a change. I think I'm gonna get a cherokee to daily drive here pretty soon. Anyway. Just though I'd show some pics of my latest project. Hope to have it runnin again in about 2 weeks. I still wanna do some riding with the naxja crowd. Nice folks when I met you and thats a good enough reason for me.

looks pretty gay....haha! jk man, its lookin sick. I have one question though...how in the heck did you get it in there sideways like that? Keep up the good work, not too much longer till I get my POS done as well.

Basicly got it as close to sideways as i could. Then I put my engine stand on the reciever hitch, jacked it up till the wheels came off the ground and pushed it on around.
I would have put it in straight, but behind the blue tarp is a 67 mustang in a million pieces.

Looks good man. Looking forward to riding with you when you get it done. We didn't make it to teleco this fall, planing on next spring. Let me know when you get the toyota ready for a ride. Just to let you know, I have used the hell out of the xj. The bumpers and sliders are bomb proof, I have had a ton of people ask where they came from.

Gotcha, so what all are you planning on running drivetrain wise? I see some little tires on there, looks like you need to go a little bigger to me :D

Well, this is were things get interesting. Its obviosly got a 4 banger and a 5 speed in it. I remembered reading about a year or so ago about a guy in chile who had put two toy trannies inline. So after a little research, and some head scratching I've got this.
Dual 5 speed Trannys

What are the benifits?
Doing this would be like getting:
2 wheel low (as low as 91:1) assuming 4.10 gears
Lower gears in your differentials (3rd gear in 2nd case) 5.66's
2nd overdrive (5th gear in 2nd tranny) 3.49's in differentials
4.1 gearsets, for free.
The biggest thing is 207:1 for the cost of one adapter and another tranny.
tons of low range gear selelections
Better front driveline angles
Clocked x-case
And WAY WAY cheaper. Only one thing to buy and only have to lengthen/shorten d-lines.
As for tires, I'm running whats on it for now. I really havent decided what I wanna do as far as axles are concerned. If I were to do "real axles" It would have mogs. For now I'm just staying with leafs and 33's because their free on and already on the truck. It's locked front and rear and I'm gonna have a flat belly, I already cut a huge hole in the floor. So I have 1" more clearance than my buddies 4runner on 36's w/ 5" allpro lift.

That is nuts. That is definitely the first I've heard of someone running 2 trannies inline. How long is your drivetrain going to be? What about driveshafts, I'm sure your rear is going to be a little on the short side with 2 trans. in there. Looks sick though man, you'll have to wheel with me and my guys once we all get our shit done.

I'll definitly do it. Got a buddie with a yj on tons and 42's that were building now. So he'll def be able to keep up too. Rear shaft will be about 30" front about 38". Plenty long.

Sorry man, I have a few stupid questions about you rig. What in the world are the tail lights from? I am curious about the shifter for the back trans, and transfer case. How are you going to run the linkage? What are you going to do about the birfields? I know you said you are going to run the tires you have for now, but what is in the future? Sorry for the stupid questions, but I really like the old yoters.

Don't need one, its not that bad. The x-case shifter will be coming through the floorboard right between my seat belt buckle bolts. Basicly right beside my hips. It could be further forward if I ran a forward shift case, but it will be fine.
What are you going to do about the birfields?
Nothing at all for now. I don't know if I wanna keep toy axles for ever yet. I can get a set of tons for about 400.00. But I'd spend 1500.00 building them. So, I'd rather just buy some mogs. But we'll see. I can get the new longs for about 700.00, there supposedly bullet proof.

If I keep the yota axles, 35-6's soon enough. If I biuld them 37-8's. Tons of mogs, 42" Irocks. I just don't know. With the amount of clearance I've got, I'll just have to see what I need.

Awesome man, definitely keep us posted. Hop on over to our board if you want to. We are trying to plan a big winter ride for the club and we'd love to have as many along as we can.

Not sure yet sometime in January or February most likely. I had to push my build back a little bit due to money constraints, but I'm hoping to maybe be done by the end of Feb.

its been around.... just dont see it much.... suzuki samurai uses a divorced transfercase with a driveshaft between the transmission and transfercase. Just enough room to stuff a volvo transmission.

I never said it hadn't been done before. This is the first I know of anybody mating 2 toy trannies though.
