no 4 low

hey guys
i have a 91 sport with the mp 231 tcase
having troble
i have no 4 low
works fine in 4 hi....
no noises ....
but when its in 4 low its like its in neutreal
i've adjusted the linkage.....
it feels like it is back as far as it can go......feels like it is clickin into 4 low but when i give er gas nothing....
aslo its a 5 speed manual tranny...
an advice or help would be greatlly appercieated

I still think it is linkage. Shove the tcase selector handle as forward as it will go. Loosen the adjustment screw. Grab the tcase bellcrank with a big pair of slip joint pliers and ratchet it back and forth a few times and then make sure it is all the way to the 2wd side. Tighten up the set screw.

While you are under there looking, Make sure the bracket on the body and driveline side are both tight and that the bushings on both ends are good. A shot or missing bushing can put enough slop in the mechanism to keep it from working well.

i lossened the bolt on the rod.....
shoved the leaver(bellcrank?) as far back as it would go and still nothing
it clicks through the gears ....from 2 hi to 4 lo but i still get nothing
could it be something internal?

o....the bushings also look and feel tight

OK, when you adjust it the way I said (in 2WD), does the inside lever move all the way into the 4Low position?

Try unbolted the adjuster and getting t case into 4 lo by the lever that's on the case. Sounds like your just getting into netural.
