I was trying to check the differential fluid level in my front axle the other day and I could not get the plug off. I was using a 1/2" drive socket and was basically lifting myself off the ground trying to turn it. Even tapping the socket with a hammer did not budge it. The inside square I can see is starting to round out. Any ideas besides a long breaker bar? Thanks

How about a long breaker bar?
Try hitting it with some PB blaster... but if it was me, I would make sure I have the plug out, or another diff cover before I took it off... you wouldn't have a way to fill it back up without the plug out.
BTW, put some anti seize on it next time.

I think mine was a 3/8". I used a 3/8" extension on a ratchet wrench, and used a floor jack under the wrench. The weight of the Jeep broke it free.

Haha, I hope 4,300 lbs of force would break it free. I'll try some of that in the morning.

Well, got it off finally, glad I did too. The diff was almost bone dry, added half a quart of gear oil.
