94 4.0 auto,it just dies, at idle, under load, steady speed or coasting, but fires back as soon as you hit the switch (don't even have to turn it off, just slip into neutral and turn key to "START"). won't downshift from OD unless you tap the brakes or hit WOT ,it chatters under load like the timing is to advanced. I replaced the relay labled "auto shut-off", and all was fine for a few weeks , all the wiring LOOKS good, the new relay still seems to be good too. Sometimes when cruising in 3rd it feels like it's either missing or the transmission is slipping, but the fluid is clear with no metal in it. No codes either...

possibly your tps is bad, test it with a multimeter key ON engine OFF, should be a steady increase from idle to WOT. .7volts to 3.8ish at WOT. worth a shot.

or possibly your CPS, (crank position sensor) if this is bad it'll cut power to your spark plugs, which could be the case of your jeep just dying.

actually could be both! lmao. god i love jeeps :laugh3:
