please reply: fuel pump mounting?

Replacing fuel pump(bosch oem) in a 89 cherokee w/4.0 but the master fuel pump(p#7006) does'nt want to fit right.Any suggestions?Do I have to modify the original rubber mounts to make it work?Thanks

I ran into the same problem when replacing mine (89 XJ). I looked at two or three different pumps at local auto parts stores, and none were exactly like the old one, even though the parts books said they would fit.

I had to cut the mounts to make the pump work. This was about 3 years ago, and I haven't had any problems out of it since........

same here with my 89. also the + and - terminals were reversed.
