i had to swap an older 88 non disco dana 30 into my 97. i figure without going to the spacer route, i am going to have to buy new calipers and rotors for the 88 (they're shot on the 88, and the knuckles on the 97 are bent so i cant swap out for the new rotors). anyway, does the 88 use the cast rotors? or those composite rotors? what should i look to pay?

The '88 uses all cast rotors. They are infinitely better than the crappy rotors on the '97s. Get the right calipers and rotors for the '88 axle and pat yourself on the back for making such a wise axle decision. The only thing you're giving up is the larger axle u-joints, and for that you can use the shafts out of your old axle and carry the '88 shafts as trail spares.
