Fuel Injector Shipping Caps?

Hi All,

I'm getting ready to install fuel injectors that I purchased from FiveMotorsports - the 19 pounders for my '89 in-line-six. There are tan caps on the injectors - on the nozzle end - and I'm not sure if they are shipping caps or part of the injector. Here's a picture of the new one. New one is center and two old ones I pulled out. The left one is the original and the right one was installed a couple of years ago.

There is a previous thread on this but wasn't sure what was the final consensus.

I tried pulling one off with a pliers and it's hard as a mother to pull off.

Thanks for your help!

Thanks PaulJ!

Luckly I didn't do too much damage to the plastic - just a few small cuts on one. The plastic tip really throws you off because you think that only metal should be down there since it gets so hot and the ones I pulled out were all metal tips too.

So far is going all smooth.

Thanks for everyones help!
