A lad on a local Jeep forum here in Connecticut pointed out that in the "How to Buy a Used Cherokee" article in the March '03 issue of JP magazine, the author states in two places that OBD-II was introduced in the 1994 model year. It was my understanding that OBD-II was introduced in model year 1996.

Does anyone with a '94 or '95 know for sure if you have OBD or OBD-II? Inquiring minds want to know.

TIA

DOT mandated that manufacturers had to phase OBDII in with model changes starting in 1994 and all vehicles had to have it by 1996. Buuut for the real answer to your question... I don't know. Maybe MJR or Rags know for sure. :)

Eagle,

I had a '95 country and it did not have OBD II. No second O2 in the converter

ODB II started in '96. There is also an extra sensor on the TB. I have a '96 SE and it is ODB II.

Thanks, all. I'm glad to know my memory hasn't completely gone -- yet.
